LOTF Article Comparison

Article This article is like the book because it goes through the boys story of how they went from nice school boys to savage people that didn´t really have manners. Its not like the book because it does not go into all the tiny details as the book did.

Lord Of The Flies Video

This video is like the book because it goes through the same timeline of the story. It is not like the book because the details aare not all there.

Social Injustice Compared in LOTF and TKAM

In the book To Kill a Mockingbird and Lord of the Flies there is many accounts of social injustice. In to kill a mockingbird Atticus is defending a negro and people in Maycomb county don´t take it that well. In Lord of the Flies, there is a social problem being that Ralph wants it civilized and Jack is more barbaric. Theses are just a few examples of social injustice.

Social Injustice TKAM and in Lord of the Flies

In To Kill A Mockingbird and Lord of the Flies, both novels contain Social Injustice. Examples of comparison is in To Kill A Mockingbird, African men, woman, and children all were at the bottom of the pyramid. In Lord of the Flies the Flies, the lilnuns were at the bottom of the pyramid. Since Tom Robinson was at the bottom no one really cared about African Americans. The lilnun's were at the bottom because they were babies and really omitted to anything. All they really did was eat and play. The lilnun's are the African Americans in To Kill A Mockingbird and the older children in Lord of the Flies are the white folks in To Kill A Mockingbird

Social Injustice Video Response by RJ Banaga

In this video, Christian (Unknown about last name) explains what and how people felt about Social Injustice. Christian said, "when a group or individual are treated unfairly in society and do not have the same rights as others.¨ After this definition he explains many people associated with Social Injustice. In the Lord of the Flies Social Injustice is displayed when Ralph made the conch an item allowing whoever held it the permission to speak. The conch then becomes an item only able to be used by Jack, Ralph and the Hunters. The conch excluded those who did not fit that description.
Also in this video, He talked about people against Social Injustice, but in the book Lord of the Flies the character Jack is with Social Injustice, he runs a dictatorship  and makes himself above everyone else.

Social Injustice Video Response By Emilio Manglona

Video on Social Justice and Social Injustice
In this video,  Jonah Goldberg explains what social injustice means. He said, "Social justice is about the state amassing ever increasing power in order to do: GOOD THINGS." After this statement, he explains what those positive things are. They are whatever the champions of social justice decide to prioritize for the time being. In Lord of the Flies, Jack declared hunting is the most important thing to focus on, while Ralph believed getting rescued was the number one priority. Jack and Ralph are the ones in charge, therefore they are the champions of social justice in this book.
Another point Goldberg discussed compassion and greed. Ralph displayed compassion by sharing his power with the others. On the other hand, Jack showed greed by trying to keep as much of the power to himself. Jack will do whatever it takes to be in control of everyone even if it means to eliminate someone who opposes him.

Introducton

We are comparing the social injustice in Lord of the Flies to the social injustice in TKAMB, an article, and a video.

Social Injustice in Lord of the Flies and Racism in America Video by James Alsip

The racism in the video is similar to the Social Injustice in LOTF. in the video, the black teenagers were living in a white mans world. The white people did not see all races as equal and thought they were above black people. Black teenagers were treated unfairly and did not have social power. This is similar to the social injustice in a LOFT because there were different levels of power and the littuns were living in the older children world just like how the black teenagers were living in a white mans world. The result of the court case in the video was dependent on their races and could be seen as black vs. white. The littuns were not able to do everything and make the same decisions as the older children.

Social Injustice in Lord of the Flies and Ancient Egypt Article by James Alsip

The social injustice in Ancient Egypt is similar to the social injustice in lord of the flies. There are different powers of each level in the social hierarchy. The levels of power in social hierarchy in Ancient Egypt are pharaoh, Government officials, soldiers, scribes, merchants, and farmers and slaves while the levels of power in the social hierarchy in LOTF are Ralf, Jack, the rest of the hunters, Piggy, and the littluns. Ralf and the Pharaoh choose what will happen because they are leaders. The littluns are similar to farmers and slaves because they have no say in any decisions. Who you are in LOTF and in Ancient Egypt influences how you will be treated just like Ancient Egypt.

Lord of the Flies Medieval Article Comparison By Emilio Manglona

The social hierarchy in Lord of the Flies is just like the hierarchy in the medieval times. They both have leaders ruling over specific groups. This is the order for who has the most power to who has the least in Lord of the Flies: Ralph, Jack, biguns, Piggy, and the littluns. For example, Ralph represents a king because he tells everyone what to do and everyone follows his orders. Jack was a noblemen because he wanted people to follow his rules and not get in his way. Ralph cared for everyone by assigning people positions. The big kids represented the lords, while the younger ones were the peasants. Piggy was believed to be an outsider by the biguns because of his lack of physical prowess. "There had grown up tacitly among the biguns the opinion that Piggy was an outsider, not only by accent, which did not matter, but by fat, and ass-mar, and specs, and a certain disinclination for manual labor"(pg.65)

Social Injustice in To Kill a Mockingbird and Lord of the Flies by James Alsip

The social hierarchy is similar in TKAMB and LOTF. In TKAMB, Tom Robinson and other black people are at the bottom of the social hierarchy and in LOTF, the 'littluns' are at the bottom of the social hierarchy. People at the bottom of the hierarchy do not have a lot of power or have any say in what happens. They are just participants being controlled by more powerful people. "To begin with, this case should have never have come to trial. This case is as simple as black and white." page 271 in TKAMB. This quote explains how the race of someone in TKAMB affects how they are treated by others and can determine who wins the court case. White people are at the top of the hierarchy and black people at the time were at the bottom. In LOTF, the littluns do what the bigger children tell them to. The older children do not take the littluns seriously.  "'What about the littluns,' 'Sucks to the littluns!,' 'Somebody's got to look after them,' 'Nobody has so far.'" This quote shows that the littluns always have to be looked after and are seen as more as a problem than a help. Between the two books, the littuns are like the black people in TKAMB and the older children are like the white people in TKAMB.

Social Injustice in TKAM and Lord of the Flies Comparison By Emilio M

In "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Lord of the Flies" they both contain social injustice. Social injustice is the unfair distribution of resources, opportunities, and responsibilities. Social justice is the opposite of social injustice. In chapter 16 Jem explained to Scout why mixed people are sad and why nobody will take them. "Half white, half colored...They're real sad. They don't belong anywhere. Colored folks won't have'em because they're half white; white folks won't have'em 'cause they're colored, so they're just in-betweens, don't belong anywhere."(pg.215) This is significant because it shows the social hierarchy in America ,in the 1930s,  is unjustified. White people had the most rights ,while black and mixed people had no rights. The reason for this social injustice was the color of their skin. Unlike TKAM, "Lord of the Flies" social hierarchy is based on your strength. Ralph and Jack had the most power while everybody else followed those two.
